Dr. K. A. Paul Denounces Arms Trades, Urges Worldwide Prayer and a Day of Peace

On May 16, 2025, in New Delhi, Dr. K. A. Paul held a press briefing to spotlight what he described as the alarming prioritization of weapons sales over human lives in contemporary politics. He challenged global leaders—most notably U.S. President Donald Trump—over their roles in fuelling conflicts through lucrative arms deals.

Allegations of Corruption and Arms Profiteering
Dr. Paul accused President Trump of accepting a $400 million bribe from a Qatari royal, allegedly delivered as a private jet, in exchange for continuing arms shipments without criticism of U.S. policies. He argued that while tensions between India and Pakistan escalated, Trump took no meaningful steps toward peace. “It wasn’t Trump who prevented war—it was divine intervention and my appeal that stopped it,” Dr. Paul claimed, adding that the former president was preoccupied selling arms to Gulf states out of fear they might suffer fates like Gaddafi’s or Saddam Hussein’s.

A Call for India’s Strategic Autonomy
Emphasizing national self-reliance, Dr. Paul urged India to cease dependency on foreign powers. “As the world’s largest democracy, if our political parties unite, India can become a global beacon of peace,” he proclaimed, insisting that homegrown solutions would better serve regional stability.

Interfaith Solidarity at the Event
Representatives from various religions joined Dr. Paul at the conference, including Supreme Court advocate and Buddhist Forum for Peace chair Anand S. Jondhle, and Muslim community leader Ashrafi Akbar Ali. Their presence underscored the gathering’s spirit of collective, faith-based engagement.

Critique of Indigo Airlines
Dr. Paul also criticized Indigo Airlines, accusing the carrier of barring him from attending a peace summit in Turkey—an act he described as “dangerous political interference” in humanitarian efforts.

Launching a 24-Hour Global Prayer for Peace
In light of these allegations, Dr. Paul announced a 24-hour global initiative: from 6 p.m. on May 24 to 6 p.m. on May 25, people worldwide are urged to spend at least five minutes praying for peace in homes, places of worship, and public spaces.

Appeal to India’s Political Leadership
He appealed directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and opposition figures to transcend partisan differences and uphold the nonviolent legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel.

India’s Role as a Leader in Global Peace
Concluding his address, Dr. Paul affirmed, “India can take care of its own destiny.” He called on the nation to unite and lead the world toward harmony, proposing that May 24 be commemorated annually as “Peace Day”—beginning the ripple of peace from India to the rest of the globe.
