MERI College, Delhi, in collaboration with SIAM University, Thailand, successfully organized the “Global Exchange: Samvaad” program. The event aimed to promote international academic cooperation and expose students and faculty to global perspectives. It was conducted as part of the student exchange program between MERI and SIAM University.
Dignitaries and Inaugural Session
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. Ponchai Mongkhonvanit, President of SIAM University, Thailand; Professor (Dr.) Chanita Ruksapolmuang, Vice President; Dr. Ying Saweni, Director of International Affairs; Prof. Lalit Agarwal, Vice President of MERI; Dr. Rakesh Khurana, Advisor; Dr. Ramakant Dwivedi, Head of the International Studies Center; Dr. Deeptishikha Kalra, Dean, along with department heads and faculty members.

The Role of International Education at MERI
During the event, Dr. Ponchai Mongkhonvanit highlighted the evolving landscape of global education, emphasizing the significance of international academic collaboration and the pivotal role of higher education institutions. Prof. (Dr.) Chanita Ruksapolmuang elaborated on SIAM University’s inclusive learning model, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), integrating education, research, and community engagement. She introduced the concept of the “Triangle of Living Learning Lab” (SU-LLL), which fosters a strong connection between universities, educational programs, and learning ecosystems.

Dr. Ying Saweni, Director of International Affairs at SIAM University, provided insights into the university’s academic vision, research opportunities, and global collaborations. She also introduced students to various international programs and opportunities available at SIAM University.
Student Engagement and Interactive Session
A key highlight of the event was the interactive session, where students from BBA, MBA, BAJMC, BCA, and B. Com actively participated. Led by Dr. Ying Saweni, the session covered topics related to global education, career prospects, and cross-cultural learning. Students engaged in discussions and asked insightful questions about international study opportunities. Additionally, a quiz competition was conducted, with winners receiving awards.
Through this dialogue, students gained a deeper understanding of global education systems, sustainable learning models, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The session also encouraged them to develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and intercultural communication abilities.
Closing Remarks and Acknowledgment
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Deeptishikha Kalra, who expressed gratitude to the guests from SIAM University for sharing their valuable insights. She also commended the faculty, department heads, and students of MERI for their enthusiastic participation.
