MERI Moot Court Day 2 Showcases Sharp Legal Acumen in High-Stakes Semi-Finals and Supreme Court-Judged Finale

The Day 2 of the 3rd Intra College Moot Court Competition at the MERI Professional and Law Institute came to an exhilarating conclusion as students demonstrated their months of legal education and training during the impressive semi-finals and finals. This competition emphasizes the institute’s integrity and importance of real-world and authentic legal education of law students when learning.

From 38 to the Finalists: A Battle of Legal Brilliance


From the 38 participating teams, only 6 made it to the semi-finals where they showed ​excellent professionalism in legal research, argumentation, and courtroom etiquette. The intensity of the competition increased tremendously.

The semi-finals had renowned legal experts presiding — Dr. Aqsa Sikander, Advocate Vivek Shokeen (Additional Secretary, Rohini Court Bar Association), and Advocate Kartikeya Matta — as the judges. The judges were tough and assessed the legal principles known by each team, how efficiently they navigated procedure, how they handled the pressure of the competition, and how convincingly they presented their arguments. The judges generally commended all participants on their level of preparedness and level of confidence.

The Grand Finale: Judged by Supreme Court Professionals


After two exciting semi-finals, two teams from the LLB 3-Year programme, emerged victorious to reach the final round.

The final was judged by an esteemed panel of judges Shri Anand Mishra (Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court), Advocate Vishal Khattar, Advocate Vandita Nain. The judges presented the final teams with difficult legal questions, required structured rebuttals, and challenged their legal reasoning abilities to a cutting edge.

At the conclusion of the event, the LLB 3-Year team were crowned champions, and they were praised for their depth of legal research, courtroom presence, and ability to think on their feet while under pressure. The winning team represented the excellent standards that MERI Law Institute works to develop.

Leadership, Learning, and Legal Legacy


Prof. (Dr.) Lalit Aggarwal, Vice President of MERI Group of Institutions, directed the competition, and his idea of providing practical legal training through simulation-based learning continues to contribute to student learning.

On Day 1 of the event, the competition was opened by Prof. (Dr.) Preet Singh, Principal of MERI Law Institute, and his remarks encouraged students to appreciate the challenges of courtroom advocacy while striving for professional development.

To begin the event, keynote addresses were delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ramakant Dwivedi (Head, MERI CIS) and Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Khurana (Advisor, MERI Group). Their presentations encouraged participants to be imaginative thinkers beyond the code and emphasized the importance of the law as a practice that permeates all aspects of society and requires versatile, forward-thinking minds.

Beyond the Courtroom


As Day 2 came to a close, while trophies were awarded to some participants, all competitors left with sharpened legal instincts, improved advocacy ability, and refreshed love for the profession they will soon be along.
