Rizwan Turns Online Criticism Into a Lesson on Authenticity

Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s white-ball cricket captain, has answered online trolls mocking him for how he speaks English ithat has gone viral. During a press conference, Rizwan responded to the criticism directly, saying his job is to play cricket, not speak English.

“I don’t care [about the trolling]. I am proud of one thing—that whatever I say, I say from my heart. I don’t know English,” he said candidly.

According to Rizwan, communication is trust and intention. It is not just about language proficiency. He regrets not having completed his education; this is why he has trouble with English.

Cricket First, Language Second


Rizwan said that his priority is playing on the field. “The request is cricket for me, not English,” he stated, reiterating that fans should pay attention to what he does on the field and not on his English.

In a humorous but really pointed comment, Rizwan said, “If that’s the case, then I’ll leave cricket and become a professor—but I don’t have that much time.”

Focus Remains on Performance


Amidst the buzz, Rizwan persists with his goal of improving Pakistan’s cricketing stature, whether it is on or beyond the field of play. Rizwan said he really appreciates the constructive feedback and criticism, seeking to improve the national side, and admitted that the recent performances have not been strong enough.
