Ten AAP MLAs Extend Support to Navneet Chaturvedi, Casting Doubt Over Party’s Official Rajya Sabha Candidate
Chandigarh: Punjab’s political dynamics were shaken on Monday as Janata Party President Navneet Chaturvedi officially filed his nomination for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections as an independent candidate, securing unexpected support from ten MLAs of the ruling AAP.

Chaturvedi filed his nomination at the office of the Secretary of the Punjab Assembly, and the papers were formally accepted by the Returning Officer. Notably, ten AAP MLAs endorsed his candidature, signaling cracks within the ruling party.
This unexpected turn has raised questions about the prospects of AAP’s official nominee, industrialist Rajinder Gupta, who until now was regarded as the front-runner for the Rajya Sabha seat.
Navneet Chaturvedi is scheduled to hold a detailed media briefing tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Chandigarh Press Club, where he will elaborate on his nomination and the latest political developments.
