Diplomats, religious leaders, and hundreds of specially-abled children join the annual Kristu Mahotsav, celebrating cultural harmony, inclusion, compassion, and interfaith unity at a vibrant gathering in New Delhi.

The Chavara Cultural Centre marked the fifth edition of Kristu Mahotsav 2025 with a heartwarming celebration that brought together diverse communities, diplomats, religious leaders, artists, educators, families, and specially-abled children. Over the years, this festival has evolved into a major cultural event in Delhi, reinforcing values of unity, compassion, and mutual respect.
This year’s gathering was graced by West Bengal Governor Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose, Archbishop Anil Joseph Thomas Couto, Bishop Stephen Fernandes, and ambassadors from Portugal, Malta, Timor-Leste, Peru, and Guatemala, making it a truly global celebration.
“Kristu Mahotsav Is a Movement of Compassion” — Rev. Dr. Fr. Roby Kannanchira
In his welcome address, Rev. Dr. Fr. Roby Kannanchira CMI, Director of the Chavara Cultural Centre, described the festival as a movement rooted in empathy.
He emphasized, “Specially-abled and underprivileged children are not guests here—they are the heart of this festival. Kristu Mahotsav embodies the spirit of creating a Bethlehem around us, where no child is left behind.”
Governor Dr. Bose Launches His Book ‘Kristu Mahotsav’
Governor Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose highlighted the deeper significance of Christmas, describing it as a celebration of service and shared humanity.
“Christmas calls us to strengthen our faith through compassion and unity,” he said. “Specially-abled children remind us of the real essence of togetherness and divine love.”
He also unveiled his new book titled Kristu Mahotsav, adding a special moment to the evening.

Speaking at the event, Archbishop Anil Joseph Thomas Couto said,
“There is no finer way to celebrate Christmas than by standing with the poor, the marginalized, and specially-abled children. The spirit of service holds every religion together.”

The ambassadors present expressed admiration for India’s cultural diversity and the Centre’s mission.
H.E. Reuben Gauci, Ambassador of Malta, said,

Mr. João Ribeiro de Almeida, Ambassador of Portugal, added,
“Chavara Cultural Centre promotes peace and cultural understanding. Kristu Mahotsav reflects the true spirit of Christmas by uplifting underprivileged and specially-abled children. Across the globe, we remain one human family.”
