Democracy Under Threat in Darbhanga Shehri: Jan Suraaj Party Accuses Administration of Manipulating Electoral Process

Former DGP-Rank Officer R.K. Mishra Leads Peaceful Protest, Demands Action Against Officials Misusing Power

The Jan Suraaj Party has alleged widespread irregularities in the 83-Darbhanga Shehri Assembly Constituency, claiming that the election was compromised through administrative collusion, bogus voting, and violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Party leader and former DGP-rank officer Shri R.K. Mishra staged a peaceful protest at the Darbhanga Police Station, accusing authorities of undermining democratic values and misusing their power to influence the election outcome.

In a strong statement, Shri Mishra said, “If the police can act unfairly and mislead a retired DGP-rank officer like me, one can only imagine the plight of ordinary citizens. This is a worrying reflection of how democracy is being eroded.”

He called upon the Director General of Police, Bihar, to initiate strict disciplinary action against officers who, he said, have not only shown insensitivity but have also abused their administrative powers.

According to Mishra, despite repeated complaints, the General Observer failed to act, allowing violations of the MCC to continue unchecked. The Jan Suraaj Party termed the incident a “dark chapter in India’s democracy” and urged the Election Commission of India to intervene immediately.

The party’s key demands include:

  • Immediate intervention by the Election Commission,
  • Suspension and inquiry against the officials involved,
  • Re-polling at affected booths, and
  • Public release of CCTV footage from all polling stations.

Concluding his statement, Shri Mishra emphasized, “This is not just about one constituency — it’s about defending the very spirit and soul of Indian democracy.”
