During his field visit, DM Taranjot Singh praised the Ramganj scientific beekeeping and biodiversity project as a transformative rural livelihood model, backed by Ramalaya Foundation and CSIR–NBRI.

Madhepura District Magistrate Shri Taranjot Singh, IAS, conducted an on-site inspection of the Scientific Honey Bee Management & Biodiversity Restoration Project in Ramganj village, Kumarkhand Block. Calling it a breakthrough model for North Bihar, he said the initiative has the potential to reshape scientific honey production and ecological restoration across the region.
The DM appreciated the efforts of Ramalaya Foundation and its social enterprise Earth & Forest, noting that the project is successfully linking rural communities with scientific livelihoods, ecological awareness and structured training. He acknowledged Prashant Kumar for his vision and for spearheading the Ramya initiative to strengthen nature-based rural development.
Praise for CSIR–NBRI’s Scientific Leadership
DM Taranjot Singh commended the scientific guidance provided by CSIR–NBRI/NBRL Lucknow under the CSIR Floriculture Mission Phase-II. He highlighted the contributions of Principal Scientists Dr. Bikarma Singh and Dr. Sushil Kumar, who are leading technical training modules, pollination ecology planning, and vegetation-based biodiversity design for the project.

On-Ground Assessment and Interaction
During his field review, the DM:
• Addressed farmers and handed over training certificates
• Interacted with local residents to understand their feedback
• Inspected honeybee box installations and biodiversity restoration zones
• Motivated farmers to adopt scientific practices for sustainable income growth
He expressed confidence that the project would help create new livelihood opportunities while promoting environmental balance.
Directive to Departments for Unified Support
The District Magistrate instructed the Agriculture, Horticulture, Forest, KVK, Jeevika, and Block/District Administration to coordinate closely and extend full support. He emphasized that inter-departmental collaboration is essential for achieving long-term impact and ensuring seamless execution.

DM’s Vision for Ramganj
Shri Singh said that Ramganj has the capacity to emerge as a major scientific honey production cluster and biodiversity hub for the entire North Bihar region. He assured the project team of complete administrative backing.
About the Project
The initiative, jointly implemented by Ramalaya Foundation (under the Earth & Forest Social Enterprise) and CSIR–NBRI, aims to:
- Train 40 farmers in scientific beekeeping
- Establish 200 honeybee boxes
- Develop a model biodiversity restoration zone
The project integrates ecological restoration with sustainable livelihood development, positioning Ramganj as a rising centre of scientific rural innovation.
